Cuts in Social Security –

President Obama has commissioned a panel to evaluate options to shore up the finances of Social Security.  The first article outlines the politics taking place over the various ideas being proposed.

The panel will report its finding in December, so pay attention to the outcome of the November mid-term elections.  If republicans do not gain control of the house, I would be nervous about seeing a proposal to limit the Social Security benefits of wealthier retirees.  It will be interesting to see how ‘wealthier’ is defined.

In my financial module of my program, I provide resources, e.g., books, websites, and other materials that people can use to gather information and prepare for the 4th quarter of their life.  I try to make sure that all of my recommended resources contain the same conservative investment information, so the user is not jerked back and forth between differing investment concepts, strategies or ideas.
