Cuts in Social Security – WSJ.com

President Obama has commissioned a panel to evaluate options to shore up the finances of Social Security.  The first article outlines the politics taking place over the various ideas being proposed.

The panel will report its finding in December, so pay attention to the outcome of the November mid-term elections.  If republicans do not gain control of the house, I would be nervous about seeing a proposal to limit the Social Security benefits of wealthier retirees.  It will be interesting to see how ‘wealthier’ is defined.
